CLIENT: Oceanside Museum of Art, Oceanside, California
OBJECTIVE: Develop an environmental wellness fragrance for a museum which has quadrupled the size of its facilities and is subsequently having difficulty acclimating to the new modernist architectural expansion.
OVERVIEW: Institutional Wellbeing takes as its point of departure the shift in personal and collective equilibrium that occurs when the dynamics of one’s physical and social environment change.
In an effort to restore institutional equilibrium, a Contraposto representative conducts a series of diagnostic consultations with staff, board members, and patrons in order to develop a custom environmental wellness fragrance for the institution. The process centers on applied kinesiology as a diagnostic modality; it is the assumption is that our body can, without our mind knowing it, respond to our environment in a way which suggests that it knows what makes it weak and what makes it strong. The goal of the diagnostic consult is to use techniques of applied kinesiology to discover what fragrances strengthen or weaken the individual’s body, and then to seek to maximize the former and minimize the latter in the creation of an environmental wellness fragrance.
RESULTS: By exploiting the precognitive sense of smell, Contraposto’s custom fragrance can be applied at regular intervals to cleanse the environmental ambiance, thereby stimulating consistent degrees of positive energy and creativity, encouraging high levels of productivity and enthusiasm.
