Totem Candle

Off the coast of British Columbia, you’ll find monumental – albeit slightly more weathered – versions of this candle decorating the beachfront property owned by the Haida Indians. It was during a potlatch ceremony – basically an orgy of gift-giving – where we received this argillite totem. Meticulously carved to represent our host family’s clan crest design, Contraposto’s totem candle stands stoic and upright—not unlike our hospitable chums, the Haida.
